Regional Planning accepting nominations for Community Beautification Award

            HALL COUNTY, Neb.— The Hall County Regional Planning Commission is looking for the best of best in Grand Island and Hall County. The commission will award the 2017 Community Beautification Award to a business that goes above and beyond in making its building and grounds more attractive and thereby enhancing the community’s aesthetics.

            One award will be given to a Grand Island business and one will be given to a business outside of Grand Island, but within Hall County, including in the jurisdictions of Wood River, Alda, Cairo or Doniphan.

            Any one may nominate a business or industry that has enhanced Grand Island or Hall County for the 2017 Community Beautification Award. Government, or other tax supported entities, are not eligible for the award, but may be recognized for efforts.

            Nominations can be emailed to Regional Planning Director Chad Nabity at Nomination forms may be requested via email, by phone at 308-385-5240, or by going to the front page of the City’s website at

            Nomination forms can be mailed to the Regional Planning Commission, PO Box 1968, Grand Island, NE 68802, faxed to 308-385-5423, or emailed to  Nominations are due Friday, Aug. 4.

            Winners will be notified at the end of August.  The award will be officially presented at the Sept. 6, Regional Planning Commission meeting.  

            Last year’s winner was Western Edge in Grand Island with honorable mention honors going to Performance Plus in downtown Grand Island. Other past winners include Christensen Concrete, PMI Nebraska, CVS Pharmacy, Barista’s, Western Centre in Grand Island, Prairie Winds in Doniphan, JBS Swift, Casey’s Five Points, Southeast Crossings, Animal Medical Clinic, St. Francis Medical Center, The Dental Health Center - Drs. Janda and Janda, Home Federal on Stolley Park Road, U-Save Pharmacy Northwest and Centura Hill Golf Club in Cairo.
