Water Division Information
The Grand Island Utilities Department Water Division has the primary job to maintain Grand Island's domestic water distribution system for fire protection, household and industrial uses. This includes exercising valves and hydrants on a regular basis to ensure the working order of these devices. They are also responsible for repairs and hookups to the distribution system which include; water main leaks and breaks, service "taps" (hook ups to existing water mains), thawing frozen water pipes, installation of replacement water meters, and installation of remote read devices on all meters. Because of the Grand Island Utilities Departments well engineered, maintained, and supervised water system, water customers in Grand Island are very fortunate to enjoy a dependable and plentiful supply of safe, high quality, great tasting water !
