Severe Weather Awareness Presentation

This spring will bring another round of severe and hazardous weather to our community. The National Weather Service (NWS) and the Emergency Management Department want you to be knowledgeable and prepared regarding potentially severe and hazardous springtime weather and has scheduled a Severe Weather Awareness Presentation in Grand Island for 6:30 pm., April 14, 2010 in the City Hall Council Chambers.

  • The meeting will last about 2 hours and will be divided into two sections.
  • The first section will focus on Basic Storm Spotting information and last 45 to 60 minutes.
  • The second section will consist of Advanced Storm Spotting information. It will focus on Severe Weather Event Preparation for a Spotter with radar interpretation and event scenario
  • Each multimedia presentation will be conducted by a NWS meteorologist.
  • The meetings are free. All spotters and the general public are encouraged to attend the presentation.
