Matthew Gleason

Matthew Gleason was appointed Finance Director in May of 2024. Matt’s background and experience encompasses a wide range of accounting positions over the years. Matt has both a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Accounting, from Pittsburg State University, in Pittsburg, KS. He currently holds four accounting certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Financial Manager (CFM), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). He currently has three accounting memberships: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
The Finance Department consists of two divisions: Finance and Information Technology. The Finance Department encompasses six major areas: City accounting, utility billing, cash and debt management, budget development and analysis, financial reporting, and information technology management services. The Finance Department provides financial management and accounting services for all City departments, divisions, funds, and enterprises. The Finance Department is responsible for financial forecasting, coordination of the City’s budgeting, financial trend monitoring, and administration of the City’s occupation taxes.
