The Grand Island Community Youth Council, also known as the CYC, was started in 1995 when Mayor Ken Gnadt was in office. Amber Alvidrez is in charge of the coordination of this group.  Members are sophomores, juniors, and seniors from all four area high schools. Membership requirements include 50 hours committed to the CYC through meetings and events, attendance at two City Council meetings, and serving on two committees. The mission the CYC is to serve as a unified voice for the youth of our community which is accomplished through the group's efforts in sponsoring community service projects, sponsoring CYC events, and getting involved in the local government.  For more information about the CYC call Amber Alvidrez at 385-5477.
