Transfer Station to Reopen Yard Waste Site

The City of Grand Island Transfer Station, located at 5050 West Old Potash Highway, will be reopening the Yard Waste Site to the public beginning Monday, April 5.  Grass, leaves, and vines will be accepted at no charge to the customer.

The entrance to the Yard Waste Site is located on Monitor Road, which borders the Transfer Station property to the east.

Yard waste to be disposed of must be clean of waste and debris and must be emptied from garbage bags at the time of disposal.  Customers delivering yard waste must ensure that loads are properly secured so as to prevent littering along the roadways.  Free disposal of yard waste is only for homeowners and renters, not contractors for hire.

The Yard Waste Site will be open to the public on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Yard waste to be disposed of on Wednesdays can be checked in at the Transfer Station office during the regular business hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

For more information about the Yard Waste Site citizens can call the Transfer Station at (308) 385-5433 or the Public Works Department at (308) 385-5444 ext. 260.
