“Oscar Wilde in Nebraska”
Please join Grand Island author, researcher, and historian, Edith Robbins, for her program presentation: “Oscar Wilde in Nebraska”.
Wilde, a man of literary genius, and leader of the so-called “Artistic Movement” arrived in Omaha, Nebraska on March 21, 1882. He gave a lecture on “Decorative Art” at the historic Boyd’s Opera House.
Wilde also gave speeches in Lincoln and Omaha, and was interviewed in length by “the Daily Herald” and the “Omaha Bee” on his impression of the West and on American architecture and art.
His stay in Nebraska will be the focus of this program.
