Nebraska Humanities Council Speaker Charlotte M. Endorf Program

“Excess Baggage: Riding the Orphan Train”

Nebraska Humanities Council speaker to appear in Grand Island Nebraska at the Edith Abbott Memorial Library:

Charlotte M. Endorf, Independent Scholar & Author will present a program “Excess Baggage: Riding the Orphan Train” on Thursday December 9, 2010, from 1:30 – 2:30 pm in Meeting Rooms ABC.

This free, and open to the public presentation, is made possible by the Nebraska Humanities Council, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and the Edith Abbott Memorial Library as part of the NHC Speaker’s Bureau.

Endorf traveled more than 8,400 miles, seeking the last surviving riders and descendents to document the real-life stories of the children who rode the Orphan Trains between the years 1854 and 1929. Dressed in period attire, Endorf entertains and educates audiences of all ages about this little known Nebraska history.

Author/Book signing and question and answer period to follow.

What a great way to bring history to life! For further questions you may contact the Edith Abbott Memorial Library (308-385-5333) and ask for Kathleen Nonneman.
