Q & A

  1. Does the outbuilding need to remain operational during the construction of the new fire station? Could a temporary solution for the brush truck, SCBA, and other equipment be found to allow for construction of the new fire station?  The outbuilding will be removed prior to the beginning of construction by the Fire Department.
  2. Do you work with a vendor to provide security, IT, and other low voltage systems? The reason I ask is typically we specify the infrastructure like conduit and electrical boxes but a vendor would design the systems directly with you and provide installation. If you have a different expectation it would be good to know so we can cover that specialty consultant on our team.  We generally utilize City IT as well as local vendors for most of our IT needs.  We anticipate the chosen firm to specify infrastructure with our vendors doing the installation.
  3. Is Landscape Architecture part of the scope, and should we include a Landscape Architect in our proposal?  Yes – landscaping should be included.  Based on the anticipated building footprint as well as the size of the driveway, landscaping will be minimal.
  4. Is a geotechnical report available.  If not, will the owner be procuring this, or will the design team be asked to provide this service?  We will provide a geotechnical report based on the needs of the design team chosen.
  5. Is furnishings, fixtures, and equipment part of the scope of this RFQ? If not, will the owner provide vendors to the design team to ensure coordination of the FFE?  We will generally work with our vendors for most of the equipment needs.
  6. The RFQ states that all work for the project should be completed within 180 calendar days after the NTP. This roughly aligns with the schedule to complete design plans but would not continue into construction of the building. Do you anticipate the firm chosen will or will not provide construction administration? If the City would like CA services will the timeline change?  The 180 days is strictly the time allowed for design.  The chosen firm will continue to assist with construction of project through completion.
