Wonderful Life Book Club

Wonderful Life Book Club to Start at the Library
Grand Island, Neb.— Edith Abbott Memorial Library is pleased to offer another book club opportunity to patrons. The Wonderful Life Book Club is a cooperative venture of the Wonderful Life project, University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) Sociology Department, and Edith Abbott Memorial Library.

Any adults who are interested in joining this book club are invited to participate in this free library activity. Meetings will be held at the library on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. in meeting room ABC. There will be two sessions in December, part one on Dec. 5 and part two on Dec. 12.
The Dec. 5 book selection, “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch Albom, is facilitated by UNK Professor of Sociology Daryl Kelley. Participants will enjoy a wonderful hour of discussion on the lessons provided by “Morrie.”
As an added highlight that evening, Lee Elliot, the driving force behind the Wonderful Life project, will be present to give a short talk on the project. Elliot states the overall goal of the Wonderful Life project is “to escalate the level of well-being of the people in the community.”
The book club has selected a variety of books with topics similar to those explored in the Wonderful Life sessions; topics such as happiness, contentment, well-being, a sense of self-worth, achieving fulfillment, and planning the rest of your life.
The club will meet twice in winter and spring of 2013 and twice in the fall of 2013. Dates are yet to be determined.
If you have questions, citizens can contact Kathleen at 308-385-5333.
