The Grand Island Public Library is celebrating National Library Week April 13-19th. Fines will be waived this week for items "currently checked out" and returned this week! Children will take part in special promotions during regularly scheduled children’s programming. Sheldon Art Gallery display-PICTURING NEBRASKA in library art alcove (April 7-May 7.) Patrons can view the display this week and signup for a drawing for a $25.00 gift card to Texas Roadhouse. The drawing will be held on April 21st. Patrons viewing the art display are encouraged to like us on our City of Grand Island Library Facebook page and post or share how the library has changed their life. Tuesday is Staff Appreciation Day! We LOVE our staff! Wednesday is the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon for adults from 12-2 PM, and for teens 5-6 PM in Meeting Room A. Friday is Patron Appreciation Day-stop by for cookies and drink 2-4 pm. Saturday-FREE Public Workshop for all ages from 11 am-1 pm in Meeting Room ABC to create drawn and collaged cards. You will work with UNL Assoc. Professor of Art, Elizabeth Ingraham on the project "Mapping Nebraska" Tell us your story about what Nebraska means to you using your own words, visual descriptions (you may bring photographs, fabrics, and or paper) or use the supplies provided. Your work will become part of a special exhibition at the Sheldon Art Gallery to be displayed in August 2014. Also, Saturday Teen Movie from 2-4:30 PM.
