Grand Island, Neb. — You have just two more weeks to register a team for the 2024 Grand Island Games, which is hosted by the Grand Island Parks & Recreation Department. You must have your team signed up by June 28.
The Grand Island Games are fashioned after the Olympics, featuring adult teams in a community-wide event on July 26-27. Participating teams can be made up of co-workers, neighborhoods, churches, service clubs, friends and more.
There are several events featured in the Grand Island Games, which include sand volleyball, tug-of-war, combat archery, bowling, trivia, pickleball, Texas Hold ’Em, darts, obstacle course, and spikeball.
The goal of this weekend event is to allow participants a chance to experience a wide variety of recreational activities, to meet new people, promote community unity and have some fun! All GIG participants receive a free team t-shirt and dinner at the awards ceremony. Top teams and individual finishers also receive awards.
