Current Projects – Community Development

 

Currently a broad range of Community Development projects are in various stages within the City of Grand Island.  Current projects include:

  

Greener Nebraska Towns Initiative (Non-CDBG Grant) – This project includes a Bioinfiltration Stormwater Garden at the Grand Island Public Library, New trees being planted at the Veteran’s Memorial Complex and new trees and landscaping at the State Fair Park.

Project Completed: June 2015

 

Platte Valley Industrial Park East – This grant was awarded to provide funds to put in the infrastructure required to develop Platte Valley Industrial Park East, with the intent of creating 37 jobs to be made available to Low-Moderate Income Individuals. 

Estimated project completion: 2018

 

Downtown Revitalization (Phase I & Phase II) –  This grant funded project includes funds being made available to businesses in Downtown Grand Island to help bring buildings up to safety code and to assist in developing Kaufmann Cummings Plaza.

Project Completion: April 2016

 

Comprehensive Revitalization (Phase I, Supplemental & Phase II) – This project will provide much needed improvements to curbs and ADA accessibility along 4th and 5th Street.  Additionally, this project will help with ADA accessibility of the sidewalks and areas surrounding Lion’s Club Park.

Estimated Project Completion: July 2017
