Project Description
The purpose of the Accessible Sidewalk Curb Ramp Improvements Project is to reconstruct curb ramps and make them accessible for persons with disabilities. The project is being done so that the curb ramps will be upgraded to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Curb ramp upgrades are included as a routine part of roadway reconstruction and resurfacing projects where curbs and sidewalks already exist.

Locations upgraded include:

  • Knickrehm School Area
  • Newell School Area
  • Wasmer School Area
  • 10th Street – Lincoln Avenue to Sycamore Avenue
  • Louise Street – Blaine Street and Garland Street

Galvan Construction, Inc. of Grand Island was awarded the $191,064.00 contract to perform the ADA Ramp improvements on April 22, 2014 & completed the project on October 10, 2014 for a total cost of $184,585.05.
