Grand Island City Council approved the construction contract with Gary Smith Construction Co., Inc. of Grand Island, Nebraska on February 13, 2018 in the amount of $537,015.05.

The asphalt resurfacing project includes a mill and overlay of the existing asphalt roadways.  This type of construction is a mobile operation and includes short duration driveway closures.  On all roadway segments, traffic will be maintained on one lane of traffic with flaggers through the construction zone.  Please observe the temporary traffic control signs and flaggers.  Before the lay down operation begins, the contractor will spray a layer of fresh oil.  Please do not drive through the fresh oil.

Construction on sections 2, 3 & 4 is anticipated to begin May 29, 2018. Asphalt construction is complete on sections 2 & 3.  Shouldering and seeding will occur later this summer on sections 2 & 3.  Asphalt construction on Webb Road adjacent to the Union Pacific Railroad tracks (Section 4) has been delayed and is anticipated to begin in a few weeks.

Construction on north section of Webb Road (section 1) is anticipated to begin on June 27, 2018.  Construction is anticipated to last 2-3 weeks.
