Sidewalk District No. 1- 2019 was created by City Council on April 9, 2019, via Ordinance No. 9725.  Legal notice of the creation of the District was published in the Grand Island Independent on April 15, 2019, with notification being mailed to all involved property owners.   

On May 28, 2019, via Resolution No.  2019-180, City Council continued the creation of Sidewalk District No. 1- 2019, as there were no protests filed against such.

On August 27, 2019, via Resolution No. 2019-261, City Council approved a construction contract with Carlos Guerrero Construction of Grand Island, Nebraska in the amount of $26,400.00.

On December 17, 2019, via Resolution No. 2019-370, Grand Island City Council approved the Certificate of Final Completion for Sidewalk District No. 1- 2019; 13th Street in the total amount of $31,8762.95.

On January 28, 2020, via Ordinance No. 9757 and Resolution No. 2020-BE-1, Grand Island City Council, sitting as a Board of Equalization for Sidewalk District No. 1- 2019; 13th Street, established benefits to the real estate in such district to be the total sum of $31,862.95. 

The boundary for the proposed district was selected in order to provide a safe walking path for students to Westridge Middle School (see attached sketch).  The new sidewalk will be approximately 985 feet in length.
