Sanitary Sewer District No. 544; Ellington Pointe and a portion of Westwood Park Subdivision

The Engineering Division of the Public Works Department received a petition for creation of a Sanitary Sewer District to serve the new subdivision of Ellington Pointe and a portion of the existing subdivision of Westwood Park.

On January 28, 2020 City Council approved the Creation of Sanitary Sewer District No 544, via Ordinance No. 9775. 

On March 24, 2020, via Resolution No. 2020-78, City Council approved the continuation of Sanitary Sewer District No. 544, with only one (1) protest received representing 1.76% of the total district frontage.

On March 24, 2020, via Resolution No. 2020-79, City Council approved an agreement with Alfred Benesch & Company of Lincoln, Nebraska in the amount of $59,428.00 for engineering design services related to Sanitary Sewer District No. 544.

On September 22, 2020, via Resolution No. 2020-233, City Council approved Amendment No. 1 to the agreement with Alfred Benesch & Company in the amount of $73,592.00 to allow for construction services and project closeout.  Amendment No. 1 resulted in a revised agreement amount of $133,020.00

On September 22, 2020, via Resolution No. 2020-238, City Council awarded construction of Sanitary Sewer District No. 544 to The Diamond Engineering Company of Grand Island, Nebraska in the amount of $678,366.25.

On July 13, 2021, via Resolution No. 2021-160, Grand Island City Council approved Change Order No. 1, at no additional cost, to extend the substantial completion date from July 15, 2021 to August 9, 2021 and final completion from July 22, 2021 to August 16, 2021.

On September 28, 201, via Resolution No. 2021-253, Grand Island City Council approved the Certificate of Final Completion for Sanitary Sewer District No. 544; Ellington Pointe and Westwood Park Subdivisions in the total amount of $946,326.56, which includes engineering services, easement acquisitions and subsequent filing fees, restoration, and bid solicitation advertising.
