The City of Grand Island performs an annual asphalt maintenance program, which includes a mill and overlay of the existing asphalt roadways.

The following locations were included in this project.

• Capital Avenue; Engleman Road to North Road
• 13th Street; Engleman Road to North Road
• Cannon Road; Mansfield Road to NOrth Road
• Old Potash Highway; Webb Road to Old Highway 30
• Horseshoe Place; Mansfield Road to Cul-De-Sac
• Zola Lane; Horseshoe Place to North Road
• Zola Court; Cul-De-Sac to Zola Lane
• Allen Avenue; Morrison Drive to Zola Lane
• Allen Court; Zola Lane to Cul-De-Sac
• Lambchop Lane; Allen Avenue to North Road
• Patchwork Place; Cul-De-Sac to North Road

On February 28, 2023, via Resolution No. 2023-43, Gary Smith Construction Co., Inc. of Grand Island, Nebraska was awarded a $738,832.37 contract for the 2023 Asphalt Maintenance Project; No. 2023-AC-1.  

On October 10, 2023, via Resolution No. 2023-254, Grand Island City Council approved the Certificate of Final Completion for Asphalt Maintenance Project; No. 2023-AC-1 in the total amount of $766,268.91.
