18th Street- Moores Creek Drainway to Diers Avenue; Project No. 2022-P-8

This project is one of the connections to Diers Avenue, as part of the overall Claude Road- Faidley Avenue to State Street; Project No. 2022-P-4 extension from just north of Faidley Avenue to State Street.  The 18th Street project will allow for improvements to the Diers Avenue corridor intended to control access and improve traffic performance and safety.  

The Public Works Department is proposing a concrete curb and gutter roadway section along with sidewalk, traffic control, drainage and all other associated improvements needed to complete the project.

On March 22, 2022, via Resolution No. 2022-76, City Council approved an agreement with Olsson, Inc. of Grand Island, Nebraska, in the amount of $578,900.00 for engineering services, as part of the overall Claude Road improvements.

 On March 12, 2024, via Resolution No. 2024-69, City Council approved Amendment No. 1 with Olsson, Inc., in the amount of $648,800.00 to include additional design services, power line relocation, street lighting design, private utility coordination, stormwater inspections, additional right-of-way acquisitions, replat of Kaaar Subdivision, construction services, and project closeout. 

On January 24, 2023, via Resolution No. 2023-21, City Council awarded The Diamond Engineering Company of Grand Island, Nebraska the bid in the amount of $1,149,288.25 for 18th Street- Moores Creek Drainway to Diers Avenue; Project No. 2022-P-8.

On November 21, 2023, via Resolution, City Council approved Change Order No. 1 to allow for restoration work, such as seeding and sodding, a time extension for project completion.  The original substantial completion date of September 1, 2023 being moved to May 15, 2024 and the final completion date of November 30, 2023 being moved to June 15, 2024.  There was no cost associated with this change order.
