A HAWK signal is a traffic control device used to stop vehicular traffic and allow pedestrians to cross safely.  Grand Island will be activating the first HAWK signal within the community soon, with the opening of the new five-lane section of Capital Avenue.  The new HAWK signal will be used to assist pedestrians and bikes across Capital Ave onto the newly extended bike trail.
