The Firefighters Pension Committee is governed by Nebraska State Statutes Section 16, Article 10. The purpose of the committee is to supervise the general operation of the retirement system. The city and retirement committee shall have all powers which are necessary for or appropriate to establishing, maintaining, managing, and administering the retirement system. The Firefighters Pension Committee consists of four active members of the Fire Department elected by their peers, appointed by the Mayor with Council approval and two members who are not participants in the retirement system appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Council. Term are for 4 years. Meetings are held quarterly in the Community Meeting Room at City Hall. |
