The Grand Island/Hall County Victim Assistance Program became operational in April 2004 and functions under the Administrative Division of the Grand Island Police Department, through an interlocal agreement between the City of Grand Island and Hall County made possible by Nebraska Crime Commission grant funding.
The program provides free services to individuals who have suffered physical, sexual, financial, or emotional harm as a result of the commission of a crime. Program staff and volunteers will respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims; assist primary and secondary crime victims in stabilizing their lives after victimization; assist victims in understanding and participating in the criminal justice system; and provide victims of crime with a measure of safety and security.
Types of cases covered by the program include: domestic violence, phone offenses, crimes affecting persons over 65 years, assault, burglary, child abuse, DUI crashes, homicide or attempted homicide, identity theft, robbery, sexual assault, stalking, protection order violations, and threats.
All victim information is confidential and will only be divulged to a qualifying criminal justice system or Health and Human Services agency or upon voluntary victim consent. Language Assistance available.
