Grand Island, Neb. — While snow continues to fall in the area, the City of Grand Island is shifting its focus to plowing snow residential areas.
Crews spent most of Monday clearing the city’s main snow routes, but as of 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, plows turned their focus to side streets and residential zones of the city. With this focus, residents are asked to move all vehicles off the streets if possible so snow can be removed. Residents are also advised to not shovel their sidewalks or driveways until crews clear the roads, as plows may throw snow onto sidewalks and driveways.
The city’s snow emergency remains in effect until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18. The city is also issuing a downtown parking ban starting at 12 a.m. (midnight) on Wednesday, February 19 and running through 12 p.m. Wednesday. The ban helps facilitate the snow clearing and hauling operation.
