We received an awesome message this afternoon that we wanted to share with you from Central City resident Lizzy Salmon: "Hi, my name is Lizzy Salmon. My parents are Amber Salmon and Curtis Campbell. We just got done walking out of north Walmart, and we saw one of your police officers. His name badge said T. Keiper. (Sgt. Tony Keiper) My little sister has autism, and she’s super sweet and loves the police officers and the K9 dogs. She has a special water bottle that she dedicates to the police officers she sees and asks for a sticker to put on it. Today, this police officer and another officer were out of stickers but one special officer that had to stay back for paperwork went out of his way to make my little sister's day and tried to find something she could take home with her. He was able to succeed in doing so and was able to find a pink teddy and said the teddy bear was in a couple of fights with him so the bear was dirty from it. My family would love to send a shoutout to him, officer T. Keiper, for doing such a good deed today for my little sister. She and I will always remember this day. The exact same thing happened to me when I was little lived in Kearney and yet still to this day I remember it like a champ. Thank you Grand Island Police Department for making little kid's life better and happier when they are having a bad day or just need someone to show them they care." Lizzy...the honor is all ours. We hope you and your sister enjoy the pink teddy bear!

Friendly reminder of the day - don't drive your ATV onto any frozen bodies of water within our Grand Island park system, as it's against the law. We've recently received reports of individuals being out on the ice at L.E. Ray Park with an ATV. On the sign entering the park, it says "No Gasoline Motors Allowed on Lake." This was primarily intended for boats, but ATV's certainly fit that category as well! Thank you for your understanding!
