Water Division
The Grand Island Utilities Department Water Division's mission is to supply the City with safe drinking water and fire protection. The department is responsible for maintaining the water distribution system, including the underground pipes, fire hydrants, line valves, and service connections. There are several thousand valves that must be cycled on a regular basis to ensure they will operate when needed. Fire hydrants are physically cycled and flushed annually as an essential part of protecting public health and safety.
When your home or business needs clean dependable water, our Water Department team taps the water main, installs new meters and ensures the accuracy of existing meters. Our employees are also available when the water escapes the pipes and must be called out to isolate and repair the pipe in an emergency.
The Grand Island Utilities Department Water Division employees are dedicated to providing dependable water service 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
