Grand Island, Neb. — The City of Grand Island is proud to announce that the 2024 Nebraska State Fair will have an even more local flare this year.
On Sunday, August 25, it will be “Welcome to Grand Island Day” at the fair, and on Sunday, September 1, it will be “Come Back to Grand Island Day.” City leaders will be greeting fairgoers at the main west entrance to the fair on both days and will also be staffing a unique photo frame for attendees to stand in for that perfect photo op to remember their visit to the fair.
“The City of Grand Island has been fortunate to call itself home to the Nebraska State Fair for the past 15 years,” Grand Island Mayor Roger Steele said. “To now have two days at the fair to call our own is a testament to the great relationship our city has formed with the fair and the bright future this partnership has.”
Grand Island native and City Council President Mark Stelk will serve as the grand marshal for the parade on the morning of Sunday, August 25. Before serving on council for the past decade, Stelk spent 20 years in banking before transitioning to owning his own business in Grand Island.
On both featured days, city staff will be passing out free fans as well as offering plenty of unique opportunities at the city’s photo frame. Fairgoers will be encouraged to share their photos from the frame on various social media channels by using the hashtag #WeLoveGI.
