Public Information

The role of the City’s Public Information Office is to create and enhance accurate, timely, and honest communication between the City of Grand Island and its employees, the general public and the media. Creating public awareness and understanding about the workings of Grand Island government and the community is also a key focus of the Public Information Division. A comprehensive program of information about City services, activities, and facilities is provided in print, electronic, and video formats.

The responsibilities of the Public Information Office include: 

  • GITV Channels 187 (Charter Communications Cable) and digital 50.1 

  • GITV Channel 180 (Charter Communication Cable) is known as Digital Data 180

  • City of Grand Island website and social media sites

  • Media contact and City spokesperson 

  • Public relations and marketing tools 

  • Event planning and promotion 

  • Provide public information to the residents of Grand Island
