Civil Service Commission

Section 12 of the City Code provides for the establishment of the Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission is responsible for adopting and promulgating rules and regulations, exercising powers, and performing duties as provided by the Civil Service Act (Neb. Rev. Stat. ยง19-1825). The Commission is responsible for the appointment of sworn police and fire personnel. The Commission is comprised of three members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The Human Resources Director serves as Secretary. Terms are for six years; there are no restrictions on the number of terms a member can serve. Meetings are held as needed.
