Library Board
Section 19 of the City Code provides for the establishment of the Library Board as provided by Neb. Rev. Stat. ยง51-202. The Board shall have the power to make and adopt bylaws, rules, and regulations for the guidance and government of the library. Any bylaw or regulation established by the Library Board may be amended or annulled by the City Council.
The Library Board consists of seven members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council for a term of 4 years. Members are to be chosen from citizens at large. The Mayor and Councilmembers cannot serve as members of the Library Board, however, a Council liaison may be appointed to facilitate communication between the City Council and Library Board.
The board meets the third Tuesday of every month at 5:15 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room.
