The Transfer Station is the proper site for manual unloading of materials, and is also the location for the Yard Waste Site.****

All incoming loads need to be covered with a tarp or net.

Items that are more than 8 feet in length will not be allowed for disposal at the transfer station.  Please contact the superintendent at (308) 385-5433, Ext.4, to discuss other options.

The Solid Waste fees lists the charges for the various types of materials accepted for disposal.

Tree Grass, Leaves, and Tree Branches

The Transfer Station offers to Grand Island residential customers, free disposal of grass, leaves, and tree branches. The Yard Waste Site has a separate entrance located on Monitor Road, just North of the Transfer Station building.

Beginning March 31st the dedicated Yard Waste site entrance located on Monitor Road will be Open for the Season. Hours of operation will be Monday thru Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Grand Island residents can still dispose of yard waste for free before the dedicated site entrance is open for the day, by entering the Transfer Station's main entrance (on the South) at 5050 West Old Potash, and stopping on the scale to check in with the office attendant.  (Operating hours are 7:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. Monday thru Friday and 7:00a.m. to noon on Saturday.)

Yard waste to be disposed of must be clean of waste and debris and must be emptied from garbage bags at the time of disposal. Customers delivering yard waste must ensure that loads are properly secured so as to prevent littering along the roadways.  Free disposal of yard waste is only for homeowner and renters, not contractors for hire.
