On July 24, 2018, via Resolution No. 2018-216, City Council approved the agreement with Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) for the City's share, currently estimated at $2,775,764.00, for the realignment of US Highway 30 within City limits.

On April 25, 2023, via Resolution No. 2023-101, City Council approved Supplemental No. 1 to the original agreement with NDOT to update project limits and incorporate City requested work into the project.   The City's share increased to $3,908,270.00 with Supplemental No. 1.

The State of Nebraska Department of Transportation awarded the contract for construction of this project to Werner Construction.
