Community Roundtable

Grand Island, Neb. — The City of Grand Island has launched a new housing study, which is designed to serve as an important tool for guiding community leaders and decision-makers toward sound and efficient strategies for addressing housing issues within the community.

City leaders point to public involvement as a cornerstone of Grand Island’s Housing Study. A successful study is created not only by the elected and appointed officials, but by the entire community providing their lived experience and ideas. Involvement also improves the plan and provides a foundation for interest in maintaining and implementing efforts within the plan.

Residents and stakeholders are being invited to a community roundtable event on Wednesday, July 17 from 6-7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Community Meeting Room of the Grand Island Public Library.

Attendees of the roundtable are expected to discuss challenges and opportunities seen within Grand Island’s housing market. Lived experience is wanted, but no expertise is required for those who attend.

While public input at the community roundtable will help shape the future of housing in Grand Island, there is also an a quick, 10-minute survey online for residents who cannot attend. The survey is active and can be found at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Y563JVD.
