Grand Island, Neb. — Starting Wednesday, December 11, the Grand Island Police Department will be participating in the latest “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” mobilization.
GIPD's participation is thanks to a grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety. The purpose of this grant and selective overtime enforcement is to reduce the number of crashes caused by driver's being impaired during the holiday season. It's also to help reduce the number of fatal or serious injuries during these crashes.
Officers will be working an additional 152 hours to target impaired driving from December 11 - January 1. Drink responsibly this holiday season and get home safely.
