Friendly reminder of the day - don't drive your ATV onto any frozen bodies of water within our Grand Island park system, as it's against the law.
We've recently received reports of individuals being out on the ice at L.E. Ray Park with an ATV. On the sign entering the park, it says "No Gasoline Motors Allowed on Lake." This was primarily intended for boats, but ATV's certainly fit that category as well!

City Administrator Laura McAloon and Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation President Mary Berlie have been representing Grand Island in El Paso, TX this week at the National League of Cities cohort meeting!
The Grand Island duo presented to the cohort on the city's Community Kitchen Pilot Program and learned from others who received similar grants.
A local grant of $1,000 has been awarded to the Grand Island Utilities Department as part of a national giving campaign.

The voter-approved Good Life District Occupation Tax took effect on October 1, and initial returns are in. The City of Grand Island collected an additional $254,812, reflecting collections from the first full month of the new tax.

On Thursday, December 12, we held their swearing in and pinning ceremony ahead of their graduation from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center. This is the largest incoming class of officers we've had in decades! Welcome to the team!
Tonight's city council meeting saw the departure of council members Michelle Fitzke and Bethany Guzinski, as well as the arrival of Doug Brown and Ryan O'Neill.
